After taking a shot of yet another smoky sunset I went back inside an saw a visitor in the backyard. This guy was thirsty and getting a drink out of a large bucket I have outside for the local critters. Normally I see birds, deer and squirrels using the bucket, but today a bobcat found it. (This bucket is a temporary solution and I have started work on extending the back patio a bit and adding in a nice fountain). In any case the first shot below is of the sunset followed by multiple shots of the bobcat (unfortunately I had to take them through a sliding glass door as ran off when I tried to slowly open the door for a cleaner shot). The final shot is how the moon looked later that night (this was the actual color of moon due to all the smoke even though it was high in the sky). All comments, questions and suggestions are welcome.

Nice pictures. We use to have many bobcats in Illinois, but I don't see them any longer.
Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Beautiful bobcat photos (the others are nice too). Thanks for providing water to stressed wildlife.

Excellent set! All the shots were top quality.

Hi UTMike
Thanks for checking out the images and for the comment. The Bob cat is not quite as crisp as I would like mainly due to the sliding glass door which is not a good element to have in the optical path and does show up on close inspection at the 500mm focal length I was using for the shots.

Nice set. I usually have to do some adjustments to get my moon photos to look like that so, at least the smoke is good for one thing.

Hi tcthome
Thanks for checking out the images and for the comment. Unfortunately I didn't have to change the color of the moon to get it to come out that way (ditto for the sun).

Hi Sylvias
Thanks for checking out the images of Bob, for the Thumbs up and the comment. Bob was a very sleek looking kitty, I hope he comes around again.

Hi Mundy
Thanks for checking out the images and for the comment. I only see them occasionally as they tend to avoid people like the plague. This is the first time I've been able to get a DSLR shot of one around here. The other time I got an image was from a surveillance camera but it was very low resolution. See

Hi SWFeral
Thanks for checking out the images and for the comment. Now if I could only get the rats and mice to drink from the bucket and not crew up the drip lines (This time of year I'm constantly repair rat damage to the drip lines). The squirrels seem to know how to use the big buck since I put a ramp on it for them and they constantly use it. The damage always occurs at night so I know it's not squirrels doing it, however you cannot leave cloth outside as the squirrels seem to like to take it for nesting material.
