I just got a delivery of a new Canon lens, fine. It was described as being in a white box, and came WITHOUT any warantee card, but with a bill of sale. THIS IS FROM A VERY RELIABLE STORE. Did I just buy a grey market item? Anyone know? thanks, Ed

What was offered and how does that differ from what you received?

I rcvd exactly what I ordered , a Canon L lens. I have bought tons of Canon lenses over the years but always think I got a warantee card, tho I am not sure. & it being describes as a white box confuses me, tho sometime I am self confusing....

With Nikon often a white box is a lens that was taken from a kit and sold separately.

"White box" typically means a lens separated from a bundled camera and kit. Whether that includes a warranty card and / or a US model should have been mentioned in the sales offer and / or confirmed before purchase. It's not exactly the same as purchasing new, as you probably noticed in the price difference. When you contacted the vendor, what did they say?

If you think Canon has a list of lens owners and serial numbers, I've got some property in Florida I'd like to talk to you about ... a real deal.

If you won't contact the vendor about a lens you bought, I'm pretty sure you won't chase me either.
