Which is preferable sell my Nikon D750 and Nikon D7500 bodies and buy a Nikon D500 or not. I have a Nikon D780 and Nikon D850 that are my main uses. I shoot wildlife, birds flowers, insects, landscapes, people, and some macro. Thanks for any help in my decision.
Most of the UHH community has some form of attachment disorder, being unable to part with old, outdated, overlapping, or generally under-used equipment. Every day you hold onto equipment you don't use is another day that camera gets lower in resale value. Recognizing your overlapping cropped bodies is your first step toward getting rid of the unneeded equipment. Next would be to recognize the D850 is the only camera you need to keep in this portfolio, so drop all the DX lenses too.
Honestly, I think it's a very personal decision, but in your place I would just sell both and buy none. Would use that money for lenses, trying mirror-less, or something else. But if you are asking I guess that you want a DX body, in that case D500 is the best Nikon you can get at the moment.

Thank you all for your responses. I do have an attachment disorder for quite a few things in my life (including my wife)(married 46+ wonderful years). I think I will sell the two and not get the D500 as I have a D780 and D850.when I can I will to post some of my captures. I have posted some on face book.

...
Interesting.
I buy my photography equipment as tools, not as an 'investment'.
Same with my state's quarters. I collected them as a hobby. I'll bet they're worth at
least 25ยข each!

I see that you have already made your decision, but you did receive some quite uninformed advice along the way.
The D500 is a "shooting twin" to the D850, and can provide a very capable and somewhat more nimble option when 46 MP is not needed. And not all of these benefits are available by switching to DX format on thr D850. I generally don't use DX lenses on my D500, but I do have a couple for those occasions when I really want to minimize size and weight.
Any claims that the D500 is obsolete are simply one-dimensional, prejudicial, and, to be quite blunt, tiresome. In fact, it is the most ergonomically satisfying camera I have ever used (with or without an accessory grip). It is second only to the D850 in capability, and will probably do close to 98% of what you might ask your D850 to do.
Decide as you wish, but do so independent of short-sighted advice you receive here. For most of us, cameras are recreational expenditures, not business investments.
If your sensor throws away 60% of the frame, how will you ever achieve your potential as a photographer?

WOW, my sensor captures all it sees.

Since you made your decision in less than an hour, with only three responses, it seems like your mind was already made up.
Be honest, did your wife of 46+ years have anything to do with the quick decision?

I have a D750, a D7500, and two D500's. The D7500 and D500 have the same sensor and equal image quality. The D500 is superior in every other way. It has Nikon's best autofocus module, shoots at 10 frames per second, and has an almost unlimited buffer. It's the camera to get for action photography or any photography. Since you have a D780, and D850, you could sell the D750 although it's still a great camera and holds up well even today.
"I shoot... people" This actually may your best option for using your kit to generate revenue...
"wildlife, birds flowers, insects, landscapes.. and some macro." A luxury for those who financially empowered..
For a mercenary? If it doesn't pay they are really not interested...
To work commercially it's prudent to have two of the same camera bodies... Experience is a brutal teacher...
Good Luck SEMODH

My $0.02. Sell the 750, D750, and, D780. Use that money and seek help for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The D850 is all you need.
You've got some redundancy there, so I can see something has to go. Though I seldom use it, when I need it, I want the built-in flash to be there. Neither the D850 nor D500 have this feature. I'd unload the D750 and D780. The D7500 can be your back-up, light-weight daily carry, grandkids birthday party, long-range BIF lens, the D850 for your Nat.Geo. shots.
