Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of using this lens in a hockey arena. Probably using it on a D7500.
Appreciate any input. Thanks.

Great lens for outside games in full sun. Otherwise focus is slow in low light like a gym, etc. Hockey I would use 70-200 2.8 getting the most light you can.

Too slow and too long for indoor hockey.

The best lenses for Indoor Sports Photography are F2.8 or faster, IMHO. Upon occasion, you might find an arena designed and lit for photography; when you do, please let me know where it is! Best of luck.

Hi Jack 47,

I'm sending this photo that was taken with a Canon 100-400 f 4.5-5.6 Version II lens. I was using my Canon 5D Mark IV full frame. Settings 1/1000 f5.6 400mm and 5000 ISO.
I think it really depends on the venue. This was well lit because they broadcast for television.

My point is try it any way. It's ok to experiment and it just might suprise you.
