I wanted to try something new without having to buy a new camera or lens.

My compact Panasonic LX10 has a setting for “artistic”(painters palette icon). So far my favorite option is “soft focus”. I know many people use soft focus for flowers and people.

I used it for landscape type shots.

I took these at Freeman’s Mill Park in Georgia.

I applaud your creativity and willingness to try something new and "put it out there." I'm of the opinion that your second set of images is superior to the first, and quite impactful. Just seems that the camera setting that resulted in the first images was pretty much uncontrollable - you got what the setting gave you. The suggestions to use PP to create similar effects is spot on - more control, more fun! Thanks for boldly going where no one has gone before with the first images!

I appreciate your taking the time to do this post. You are correct about the lack of control for taking the original photos. There were 22 different looks. I actually took photos in all 22 in raw. I discovered that most of the photos looked about the same and that I had to shoot in JPEG to achieve the actual look stated.

So, onward and upward, tomorrow is another day!

Thanks again for all your comments. I can see that the original photos are quite unpopular. This location is close to our home and one I visit from time to time.

Here are more traditional photos I took with the same camera at about the same time period.

Beautiful shooting 👁️🏆👁️

I'm one who strives for more sharpness on most of my photos. I may be the odd man (person for those needing PC but I am a man) out but I quite like the mill and the second waterfall.

Have tried this with several lens add-ons including home made. These kind of shots always look out of focus to me. Otherwise they are nice shots

That's one way to do it. This effect has a place, not for all images.
