I'm back from my elk watching/photography trip to the PA Allegheny Mountains and will get on with sports pics in addition to PPing the elk pics. One more soccer game to go and the season will be over. I'm playing catch-up now, and I still haven't shot many flaming foliage pics. Isn't it fun dabbling in photography?
This was a fast moving game. (Aren't all youth soccer games fast moving?) I shot a bunch of pics during this one. Our girls (in green) won. Late afternoon sun was low with lots of clouds. I couldn't decide which pics to show so I decided to break this game down into parts. I like the expressions and action in this series, and the flailing arms and flying pony tails are fun to see. I hope you like them.
Settings: All pics were shot using my Canon EOS 50D w/EF 70-200mm f2.8L lens + 1.4x TC supported on my (rifle) bi-pod using center dot with IS off and AF on; Tv mode @ 1/1250" (except where noted); AI Servo @ 5-fps; Evaluative metering; -1/3 EV. Exif intact. PP w/PSE8.
All pics are cropped. #1 thru #5 were shot full length of the playing field (120-yds). Its evident from the indicated FL on all the pics that play was either closer to me or, further down or across the field.
Enjoy.

With sports images it is generally important to get the ball and the participant's eyes/expressions and you have done that. Really nice images here.
I like #13 the best of all these great images.

Love the series! Great range of facial expressions! I hope to be able to get same results as I have several granddaughters playing the sport.

Thanks, Jim, glad you like them. I'm sure you'll get the same results when you shoot your g-daughters playing soccer. Its so much fun watching them play. Thanks for looking.
