This is a pano of the Blue Ridge mountains and looking down into the Shenandoah Valley, southwest. Taken last week from the Humpback Rock outcropping just south of Afton Mountain, mile post 5.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway can be seen in the lower center (d/l recommended). My son-in-law said it was a moderate hike to the Humpback rocks from the parking area, well, I'm never listening to him again...
It was a hike, at least for me, only .80 mile trail but up but ~800' vertical and rocky but once there it was worth if. Beautiful hike under a hardwood canopy all the way. A small Timber Rattlesnake was spotted sunning itself just before I got there so there is wildlife...
Cheers

That “is” an awesome capture of the beauty of the SV! Well done and thanks for sharing.
It’s such an amazing view from a car, I have always wondered how the first Europeans who followed game trails and bushwhacked felt when they arrived at the top of the ridge and saw the expanse of the valley.

Thank you George, yes it truly is.
A beauty! Not too far from where we used to hike the Blue Ridge. Good memories, thanks.

Thanks, glad it brought back memories Mike as this trail crosses the Appalachian trail near the top
