NBC news reporters appear to be using Canon equipment. Any chance you could identify the lens?

The man and woman with their cameras raised are using Sonys. The guy looking at Peter Alexander might have a Canon, but the EF 70-200 is missing the red-ring and the hood is a smaller 3rd-party model. Possibly, he has a white lens cover for why no markings are obvious. The size of the lens seems too small for an f/2.8 model, so it may still be another brand of lens and camera.

Any brand's 70-200 f/2.8 is a 'reference model' for that lens brand, being a go-to focal length zoom for indoor event photography. We see three such lenses for the photographers captured in the screen capture of this post. Yes, for town hall meetings, weddings, speakers at conferences, etc.

At first, I thought the fellow looking towards the cameraman was using a Canon 70-200 f/4, but, as CHG_Canon stated, there is no red ring. It does appear that of the three photographers shown he is the only one using a lens adapter.

Right. Sony likes that color, too. It prevents overheating from those bright overhead fluorescent lights.

Who cares? I just hope nobody thinks they will improve by changing gear because of what some new photographers -- who often get their stuff free from manufacturers -- are seen using.

About half of what separates a successful photographer from their peers is who brought the best camera.

You might be onto something by "exposing" the equation for fake news!
