Before I found the owners, I checked around a bit about the film. The Macy's footage was of the first parade and the Macy's archives did not have footage of that first year and wanted copies of it but I had committed myself to finding those people and getting the film back to their family and told Macy's if I couldn't find the people in five years I would make them a copy. The F. D Roosevelt museum wanted copies of that footage, etc., but I found the family first.

Gess....Now that's Historical.... Mike

I thought it had some significance and hope that the family decided to be cooperative with it but I don't know if they did or not. Macy's had all the other years after that first year and they wanted it pretty bad. The FDR library/museum is always on the hunt for footage of FDR sitting in a wheelchair because his affliction was hidden from the public and they don't have one single shot of him in a wheelchair. This footage didn't have that either.

Gorgeous photos! I've only been to one festival, there just aren't many around here.

Looks like Taos is having a good one next weekend, but that would be one expensive trip, right after I bought a new camera.

Hmmmm! I don't know where you are but it's only about a 3 hour drive for me. I'll have to consider that. Thanks.

Nine hour drive for me.

I'd want to be there at 7am, so that's a night in a hotel. Two, if I stay to catch the shine at dusk - and I would!

Yah, I just googled it and I see they're doing the "shine" on Saturday evening. Here, if memory serves me right, they did the "glow" the evening before the first a. m. ascension. I had heard it was to allow the balloonists to check out their gear for in the morning. A funny thing happened to me about balloons, funny maybe. I got a real good collection going of balloons and sunflowers and got in touch with a stock agency. They said, "we'll send you a 'want list' for you to work off of." When their list arrived, above the list of wants, it said, "...and no more hot air balloons and no sunflowers!." Well alright! Just what I wanted to hear. :)

Thank you. Here's one for you just in case you haven't found yourself in this precise location lately. This is a balloon that is shaped like a tin can. It is the Alpo dog food balloon.

Since it's nearing dark on the east coast, I'll send a couple of "glow" images in case there's anyone who likes them but first, we need to bid adieu to the Energizer bunny escaping into the setting sun.

"Still going..."
"Still going..."...
