The contrast of light and dark in this snap from the garden attracted me and I've enhanced the feel with a very slight texture blend. It is saved in RGB but seems a little dark in the thumbnail - please download if you have the time. Your critique would be welcome.

Fantastic image!!!!!
The subdued light is what make this image!!!
Gorgeous work, Dave. Why save in RGB when posting to UHH - unless all my past nagging has confused you like I did Erich with quote reply
Yes, the thumbnail is dark. The download is completely different, displaying bright rich greens. (I did doublecheck your exif; it's RGB)

Many thanks! Yes, it was the light that drew me to it.

OK Linda, I have totally lost it then - absolutely convinced you (and others) chivvied me into saving in RGB. It was in sRGB in the first place!
It does need to be downloaded to see those greens, and they are important to the image. Thanks for commenting - I’ll shuffle off with confused look on face.
Stunning! You have retained detail in the lovely white blossom and the dark greens really make it pop.
It definitely needs the visible foliage that you see with the download.
The download is gorgeous!
Very nice photo and editing. I see nothing wrong with it at all. Hard to critique something when nothing stands out not even the cropping or placement of the flower.
Now for a personal view only, I would lighten the greenery just a bit more. The texture in the leaves is interesting and I feel adds to the composition. Eyes will got to the flower right away then a more in depth view including the leaves.
As I said at the beginning good job and composition.👏
My thanks to Carol, RG, Mike and Jim, your comments are much appreciated and I’m pleased you like it. Flowers are, without doubt, a universally popular subject on just about any ‘straight’ photography forum (by that I mean non-specialist forum), and one I’ve seldom spent much time on. Lately however I’ve been accumulating images for a forthcoming composite and surprised myself by the enjoyment gained from the most common and humble species.
Download is a must. The greens act as a “dish” setting for this magnolia. As if being delivered to the viewer to see and enjoy.
Imperfect? I would say it has character.

Thanks Frank, you sum it up well I think.

Yes, a good way to put it. Wouldn’t want to be messing with it to make improvements, in my book at least.
I think this is a great image. Thanks for sharing.
