B&H says this evening the Nikon D850 has been discontinued.
Hi, this evening B&H noted on their webpage the Nikon D850 has been discontinued, no other information was avaiable. Two days ago I called B&H to order a D850, but the sales representative told me B&H did not have any in stock. Unfortunetly, no other information on restocking at the time was available.
Does anyone on this forum have any information on Nikon coming out with a new DSLR'S? I was waiting for the Nikon D850 to be restocked, but that looks like that will not happen.
Perhaps, Nikon will come out with a new DSLR to replace the D850. That would be good news. I waited this long, so no problem.
Any comments or new information?
Thank you.

Adorama lists it as "on backorder". Perhaps this has to do with the pandemic. I would call B&H tomorrow and ask them.

The Nikon website also says "backordered" rather than "discontinued".
As far as a replacement for the D850, nikonrumors has been saying for months that Nikon is coming out with two new DSLRs this year with one being a D850 replacement, but no further word or predictions yet as Nikon seems to be concentrating on their mirrorless line of cameras right now.
Others here have claimed Nikon will not be releasing any new DSLRs...ever. However, those claims are just their own personal opinions and not based on any insider information.
The B&H website said it was discontiued.

It is very clear about that. They don't even show the picture and specs anymore.

The Nikon website says the D850 is backordered. This is the message on the Nikon site. "This product is backordered. Order now and we will ship when stock becomes available." If Nikon says more stock will be available in the future, I would trust that. It seems very unlikely that Nikon would abruptly discontinue this very popular camera that is selling very well. During the pandemic, many camera models and lenses of various brands have been on backorder. Production is not keeping up with demand at his point.

No I don't think they will come out with new DSLR. In fact Nikon rarely discontinued anything before the replacement model came out for a while. The D850 was in short supply for a while now and people had to pay higher price to actually got one.
If you hurry it looks like D850's are available at Amazon.

Although I'd typically defer to the manufacturer, in this test of info sources, I trust B&H to be more forthcoming on the D850 status and their knowledge of the communicated information and status of the D850 model.

I agree Paul. I am in no hurry. If a new model is coming in the future, so be it. The D780 is avaiable now, so I will wait and see what happens over the next couple of months. I will decide when Black Friday comes and see what is avaiable. No GAS here.

I trust the horse's mouth: NIKON. Unless Nikon announces it officially, there is no point to this diatribe (thread).
A store announces the end of something when the manufacturer does not? It only means the store hopes to sell something else if folks think they will not get what they want.

Canon won't release another DSLR. With no model replacement before removing the old, it seems Nikon has finally come to the same realization on DSLRs.
