I've visited Canada & can tell you it's worst feature is something it shares with New Zealand - Too damn far away!
There are many worse places on both sides of the pond.
I've met a few slightly crazy Canadians but their certainly no worse than others I've met either. I don't remember any whose craziness was more than an interesting character trait,so I wouldn't class either the landscape or the population as something to be sorry for.
