Are you aware that these little buggers can make you allergic to red meat? Seriously. Check this out: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/alpha-gal-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20428608

Really nice image. That is one ugly sucker. I've had ticks attach to me twice in my life, they are nasty little buggers.

Thanks, Ballard. They are no fun and when one is found we need to be sure that the head does not break off in the skin which can result in an infection.

Do they carry Lime Disease?

Unfortunately they have been identified to carry several diseases and here's a really weird one: A fellow that I worked with has a little dog that became ill and he took it to the veterinarian. When they ran a series of blood tests they found that it had both Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. He lives in a subdivision area and his dog is never out of their yard. His dog came through the treatments well.

Holy-Moly..! That is a very interesting and informative medical article. If I ever get to a point where I can't eat hamburgers I'll be done for.

Thanks, Raymondh. I use the little translucent plastic Dixie Cups (like are used for Jello Shots) for the ever so tiny specimens.

It happened again..! I was laying in bed for the night and I had an aggravating itch on my inner thigh and of course when you have an itch...you have to scratch it.

I thought, "Darn...another chigger!" yet I felt a little something as I scratched and picked at it so I turned on the light and I'll be ...it was a Lone Star Tick. I pulled it off and took it downstairs and put it into a bottle of alcohol for a later session and this is the offending S.O.B. that was sucking on my leg.

So that's what they look like up close, I hate the little buggers. I have spent hours pulling them off myself and my dogs.

Excellent shot, Gary! BTW have you considered a flea and tick collar? (LOL)

What an interesting idea. Would two of them around your ankles work? If so, I'm going to do it.

Super image, Gary. I hope there's no lingering issues with its bite.
