Nice set. Amazing anything survives in those temperatures! The rain must have been very welcome!

Today I went to the Arboretum (the rain had stopped and it wasn't going to be 115 degrees!) so I decided to make my first outing in months. I took the "baby" camera instead of one of the bigger ones. Here are a few of my captures. Not my greatest work, I'll admit, but I had fun doing it. And I managed to walk all over the park!

Kathy, you and “baby” make a great team. These shots are excellent. I love the Plumbago. We have it here and it is so blue, like the sky!

I do a most of my shooting with a small, lightweight camera these days. The freedom brings a bit of joy to the process.

Nice Monarch, all good!

Is it a monarch? It has been so long since I've seen one, I didn't know. Thanks!

Nice shots, great to get out. I sure know the feeling of things dried up, most of my favorite potholes and sloughs dry. Must have missed a page, just out of curiosity, what is the "baby" camera?

Thanks, QD. Things have been really dry here for quite a while. But in the last week we've had many inches of rain that nearly drowned us! The plants are loving it. It is so rare to see water in that creek. Folks who aren't desert rats won't understand how exciting that is.

My "baby camera" is a Canon SX50.

Baby is looking very good, Kathy! That butterfly is tack sharp.

Thanks, Mike. I was surprised that it was that good. That camera is simply too slow for "wildlife," and that butterfly was doing it's flitting best.

Who ever "Baby Camera" is, she and you were up to the task

The baby camera is an SX50. After carrying around a 1D Mark IV and a 1DX, it's light as a feather. It's almost too light, as I find it hard to hand hold. It does a pretty good job for its size. Thank you!

Glad you were able to get out and have fun...these are all wonderful shots!

Thanks, Cindy. 2.5 months of incapacitation about drove me crazy. It felt so good to actually GO somewhere totally on my own. It was a toss up between the Arboretum and seeking the wild horses. I wasn't sure I was up to the latter.
