Not that I need a new camera, but when cruising the Sony web site I noticed they had discounted the a7Rii down to 1199. This REALLY seems to be a great value for 42 mp and access to all the great Sony and Zeiss lenses. Am I missing something ? What do you think.

Yes that is a pretty good price, it's very tempting...even if you don't need another camera!

Great price. Perfect value for a 42MP. Just go for it.

I usually ask, "How long before the advantages the new camera offers, over the camera I currently use, pay for the new camera? So far, never went for those "advantages". Think I'll be with the D750 a looong time!

Any advantages of a new camera can pay for if only you make money with your camera. As for me I don't make money with my camera so the camera whatever it is never pays for me. I always paid for it.

Belongs how much camera you need. Knowing the weakness between different body would be my concern. When I used the first time the 810 I knew the 7000 was history for me. The strong ness of certain adjustments and hardware blow me away. Sure I could get the 850 but I don’t needs to have those extras. Do I have Gass for a mirror less.....sure I do....😉....good luck with your purchase

As long as it's the Sony website, you should be safe. It's new?

How about $998 with a lens? That's roughly half the price of the III.

I believe that the question of, "Will it pay for itself?" the answer will always be 'no' unless we are in the business of making an income with the use of our cameras.

I've learned that there are essentially three things to consider when considering a purchase which are:

Features - Meaning 'this is what it is' and what its intended use is (It's a camera that takes digital images).
Advantages - Meaning 'this is what does' this item have (it has eye recognition, dual card slot, rapid frame rate, etc., etc.).
Benefits - Meaning 'this is how I will feel using it' I will enjoy using it to capture the beauty of wildflowers and to get images of birds in flight that I can record along with creating memories of people, pets and other things that I cherish, save and share with friends and family as well as post for others as I share mine with them sharing theirs and that is something that I WOULD TRULY ENJOY. that I can do with this camera.

Benefits are always "feelings" and they are most often the deciding factor in how and what we purchase (like why buy an expensive watch when a $30 Timex will tell the same time of day?)

I don't think I am buying as I really don't have an urgent need but was just commenting on what I thought was a good value... I am pretty much a tripod shooter so where else could I get the kind of detail that 42 mp would give me for that price....

Good plan. I only buy a new camera if its new advantages will pay for that camera almost immediately. It’s just a matter of timing the purchase to coincide with your inspirations and aspirations. As a rule for me, better late than early. Wait until the price nosedives and then the camera will easily pay for itself reeeeally quick ;-)

Should you decide to buy it, make sure you're getting a full factory warranty. Make sure that you're not dealing with grey market.

Nope. It's a great deal. A lot of camera for the money &, if you don't shoot Sony now, it gives you a chance to get use to their ergonomics. I almost pulled the trigger on it.

Good point if you want a US warranty. We already beat up the gray market pro and cons in a previous post.

Just pointing out that it’s *not a Nikon*, so you actually CAN get it serviced in the US. Acoarst you’ll pay the going rate.
