In search of landscape and wildflower shots, last Monday I took the Brighton Lakes Trail. The trail is a 4.4 mile loop from the base of the Brighton Ski Resort (~8700 ft) with a gained elevation around 1400 feet. I started at 6:30 am at my slow ("ten yards, stop, breathe, take a photo") pace.

This first set is from the initial ascent as I took shots of the landscape on the east and west sides of the trail indirectly lighted by the rising sun. The ninth shot shows the sun about to come over the eastern mountains. Later I will post a separate set of the sun clearing those mountains.

Downloads are always best.

Excellent, Mike. Looking forward to the next set. (I usually only make it 5 yds before I rest).

Attractive set, worth the walk. Like the last best - no hardware!

Beautiful set, Mike. You captured it well. Walking is the best exercise.

Nice. But like QD, I usually make an effort to leave the hardware out of the frame.

Thanks, QD, I could take the ski stuff out, but this is what it looks like.

I appreciate your kind words, John. At that altitude, I am just happy when I can breathe.

To me, the ski area is the venue. I could use PP or use extreme angles, but when I try that most of the depth and appeal of the shot is lost.

Really nice, Mike. You are fortunate to have such nice trails accessible.

Thanks, Barbara! It is just getting more difficult for me to take advantage of my locations when they go that far up at altitude.
