Well, with yesterday's harvest, my unit cost is now hovering around a buck. If I count the choice ones given to my neighobors, it is even less. By season's end, given the blossoms I see on the vines, my unit cost should be well below a buck, maybe down around a quarter. Is that a success, or what!?

That's success, considering the cost in the store!! Now, can you grow apples?

No, but at a dollar apiece, growing your own would cut down on costs. I don't know about you, but I often eat an apple with my BLT.

Haven't tried that combo, Steve.

In my never ending quest to hide the fact that my salad is a bowl of grass, I've tried all the healthier toppers and apples sure are near the head of the list for me, so I can't imagine they wouldn't go well with bacon and 'maters? DW has pretty good spending habits except when it comes to kitchen gadgets and garden supplies, so who knows what the unit cost may actually be here. I say nothing about her splurges as it makes good cover for my one vice. You guessed it... Nikon Acquisition Syndrome. 😉

Just think of all the dermaters you'd have to sell for that lens or camera that's on your list!!

So, you are an NAS sufferer, eh niteman? Suggest you transition to the Canon universe, and the pain, though extant, will be far more pleasant!

Cost is the least benefit. Fresh garden grown tomatoes are a delight and enough reward for your gardening efforts.
