The same thing happened to me and from then on I never left my squirrel trap out overnight.
Thanks Jerry
I have a feeling that after he ate the peanut butter and sunflower seeds I left for the squirrel he fell asleep. Even after I removed the door he was in no hurry to leave.
It took a better man than I am to approach that trap to open it When I was a kid back in '65, they used to sell them for pets, descented 🤪🤪🤪
The way this one acted I now wonder if it was someone's pet. When it decided to leave it didn't head for the woods, but headed in the opposite toward a couple of houses.
Bet you wished you caught one of those pesky squirrels!
Not really. A while ago I did a photo album of 'wildlife' in our community of 182 homes. It is mostly birds but includes squirrels, deer, groundhog, racoon and maybe a snake or two. Occasionally I get to add a new bird, but this will be a first. The woman who has the album will be thrilled.
Nice image!!! Cute little critters, just don't get behind one
Obviously it was able to turn around in the cage as it was facing out, but I estimated I could run faster than it could turn in those tight quarters. As it turned out, the critter was not disturbed at all by my presence.
