Great image! This must be some type of cross breed I can't find an image of whitetail with any points on antlers going down nor have I seen any in person.
However images from this place have popped up a couple of times.
https://keeperranch.com/It's just a whitetail with deformed antlers , it is fairly common this 1 just has nice symmetry . Many times you will just see 1 wayward horn pointed in any direction . You just never know . I've watched the 2 above grow up in my back yard they are brothers . 1 is 4 and the other 3 years old . The 1 on the right is the older brother and Mother Nature has decided he will always be a spike with a strange twist to 1 horn . The last pic is the oldest brother of the other 2 and if you look close to the left brow or eye tine you'll notice a little deformity , go figure genetics .
Very nice photo. Not a cross breed. A true North American whitetail. A narrow main frame 8 with bilateral drop tines. He appears to be 2 1/2 years old.
Great nontypical buck in velvet! Hope you can keep in touch with him and record his antlers after rubbing! Good Luck!
Wow; double drop tines!! He’s gonna be a slammer…. Nice shot…

Drop tines make this a non-typical whitetail rack. About 10% of bucks have some NT chacteristic.
Very nice, he is smiling.
