A recent post about bears in Alaska and someones comment that even domestic bulls can be dangerious brought the attached photo to mind. The picture was taken at a rodeo clown bull fight event. The young man was broused, but not seriously hurt. The photo was taken at an indoor arena, obviously at the edge of the action.

I grew up on a farm in NW Iowa. For a couple years, we owned a frisky Holstein bull. One sure rule that all lived by, “never turned our back on him whenever in the same lot, never…”

I always consider that if a photo can stir up some kind of emotion that the photographer has intended, then the photographer is successful. With this photo my emotions are turning over and I have a concern for the safety of the clown. The size, strength and position of the bull only amplifies and intensifies what I feel. For me this photo is very successful. Thanks for sharing.

I worked on a farm that milked 250 Holsteins and I think they are the biggest meanest bull there is. Your around the herd all day milking twice a day. They get to know you and take you into the herd and they are the boss. We were told the same thing stay away from him and if you have to be in the same lot as he is never turn your back to him.

Dad told a similar story about a Jersey Bull, the only thing that bull respected was mixed breed English Bulldog, the dog face the bull head on in a charge grabbed the bulls nose and held on until the bull gave up, after that the Bull would stay on the opposite side of the pen or pasture from the dog.

We had a man killed by a bull a few days ago a few miles from where we live.
He was attempting to load it in a trailer.

Your right about that &, I don't see the other clown getting to close to help.
