The Poverty Flat Report....
....for Friday, July 16th. (Please pardon the tardiness of this report; my internet connection gets wonky when temperatures exceed 100 F.)
Both sides of 'the hill' remain in their respective places. This is especially good news since that means 'the hill' has stayed firmly in place since our last report. There is, however, evidence of recent visitation in the form of tire tracks. Plaster casts of these were prepared, and forensic testing results are pending. The cattle that graze in early Spring remain gone, but the stands of Prickly Pear cactus continue to bear scars of the cattle's last presence, and what little Cheat Grass that remains has been reduced to near extinction as a result of this Summer's extreme temperatures.
Of special note, however, is the large and curious cloud (as indicated in the images that attend this report) which hangs suspiciously over the adjoining LaSal Mountains. Ordinarily, we only see such clouds when they're generated by equally large and somewhat suspect Alien spacecraft.

Great shots! Missed the alien craft but will continue all efforts to spot one. Thanx for sharing!
Lots of shots in which I'd like to include those clouds.
The Ghost Dog took one look at those clouds, growled deep in his chest and phased half way out of this plane of existence. According to him those clouds are not the result of aliens but of the Baskerville Fox, the most dangerous being inhabiting this plane, a picture of which was posted a few days ago by someone on UHH. Murphy says you are at terrible risk and should leave the area immediately until the clouds dissipate.

Fact is, Nervous, it was this bank of clouds that drew me out. Unfortunately, the 'best' views of them were from places --like 'in town'-- where there were trees, telephone poles, buildings, etc., that intruded upon them. Regardless, I did manage to find various places slightly south of town where there was some potential, and those I shot, too.
I mean, its not every day when those doggone Aliens stir up a cloud bank like this one. I just wish they'd stop trying to be all sneaky and stuff about it. They're not fooling anybody. We all know what's going on.

The Baskerville Fox is short, has an oversized head-like thing on top with large, sort of tilt-y almond shaped eyes, and is gray? And walks/locomotes/ambulates --let's just say "moves around," for lack of a better way of describing it-- on tentacles?
Oh, you meant that
other Baskerville Fox! That sneaky looking arch-backed one whose picture got posted a few days ago. Yeah, that was a mighty fine shot, but I'm pretty sure that was mostly a fox. Its easy to differentiate between Baskerville Foxes: one has a sly pointy-nosed look about him, while the other has six and a half tentacles and wants to
probe you.
<edit:> Oh, whoops, forgot to say that for his sake --and for the sake of whatever others it may be that inhabit/infest that 'other plane'-- I hope Ghost Dog manages to find his way back through the Portal. I hear the puppy chow 'on the other side' sucks.

That is never a problem for him. The Ghost Dog is multi-dimensional and able to move between them with ease
More excellent shots, Jim!
BTW are you ready to rent out your spare room to make big bucks? According to the SL Tribune, big bucks are being made in Moab that way.

Hmmm. There's a thought....
Had friends from CA in town a couple months ago. I've known these folks for 25+ years, and they've been coming out here 2 or 3 times a year since before we met. They're not rich, but they're certainly not poor, but it was the first time they complained about the motel (hotel, b&b, nightly/weekly condo rental, etc) rates having risen so incredibly high. $400 per night --and up, and up, and UP from that-- seems a lot to pay for a bed and a shower.
So far as me renting out my spare room, I s'pose I could do that. Might have to scale back the rate (say, $395 a night?) because of the cats. They get hungry, oftentimes in the middle of the night. And cleaning up some tourist's scattered body parts the next morning wouldn't be exactly my cup of tea. Which, I suppose, is why I prefer coffee.
Quite the cloud formation(s). Very nice images.
Loved the cloud formation.
