Trying to get back in the swing of wildlife photography after 15 years of sports portraiture. I found I'm really rusty. Anyway, hope you enjoy some of these. Need help identifying the woodpecker on the birch tree, is it a Hairy or Downey woodpecker? Had to include the 4 point buck in velvet, my wife and I were returning from a late dinner out and came across this guy close to the road. I actually passed him, stopped, backed up, my wife rolled down her window, and I shot from the driver's side. He just patiently watched us curiously while I adjusted exposure in manual, ended up at 4000 ISO.
Consider using the Photo Gallery when you re-attempt this post with attachments.
Thought it might help if I uploaded the images, blush, I got in a hurry.
I was busy uploading the images and didn't see your reply until I posted them. Is the Photo Gallery under "Create New Topic"?

There is a "pick list" under Create New Topic.
Default is the thread topic group you are viewing when you click on it.
A "Drop-Down" arrow is on the right of the default category. ALL THE WAY on the right.

Yes, the Photo Gallery is / should be in the drop-down box. You might need to subscribe to that section to have it occur in the drop-down. You can also start from that section and the current section is the default where your post is created. The site ADMIN also have a process that moves posts to their proper location that runs periodically through the day.

I believe you are right on the available selections only being topics to which one is subscribed.
Got it, thanks. I think I've just been posting to Main Photography Discussion because it seems to default to that when I enter under Create New Topic. I'll endeavor to be more selective in the future.

Hard to tell about the woodpecker without some scale. The Hairy is larger and always feeds on large branches and mature trees. The Downy is smaller and often feeds on twigs and weed stalks. My vote is for Hairy but don't take that as scientific fact.
