The devs for darktable have released their mid-cycle (1 of 2) new feature releases. For those that are interested, darktable has now settled on 2 major feature releases per year (summer solstice and winter solstice).
The full release information can be found here:
darktable 3.6: Summer Release 2021Here are some of the key features that I found interesting:
- Quick Access Panel. A replacement for the
basic adjustments module plus some added features. Provides a new interface to the existing processing modules within a single unified layout. Users can add controls from any module to the quick access panel for increased productivity and enhanced ergonomics.
- Color Balance RGB. The color balance RGB module brings several unique innovations to help colorists edit pictures in a cinematographic way and with a refined level of control in a scene-referred and HDR-ready workflow.
- Details Mask Refinement. A new parametric masking option has been added to allow you to include or exclude sharp edges and details from parametric masks. This is especially useful to apply sharpening and blurring effects that ignore out-of-focus (bokeh) regions, or, to sharpen only the blurry parts, preventing over-sharpening of in-focus regions. This option is only available for RAW files, as it depends on details taken from the demosaic stage.
- Lighttable Changes - Import module. Huge redesign of the import module makes importing far more user friendly and added features. Bruce Williams has a
YouTube video outlining all of the new features and much more.
Plus many other added features and under-the-hood enhancements.
Cheers!
Hey, Tony, I have not seen many posts from you lately. Tied up with TWD? (LOL)

Haha...not so much as the series comes to an end. I have been busy doing side projects for our new inground pool build (still ongoing). What started as a "let's install a pool" turned into about 100 other side-projects that surround the actual contracted work. Hopefully I'll find the time to get back out and get some photo work done around mid-summer.
I did get "convinced" to do a photos for a friends Navy retirement ceremony, and I quickly realized why I like landscape photography so much!!!!!
Thanks I’ll update my software to the new version
