Should one delete other software such as ACDSee systems BEFORE
installing Lightroom?

Many people even have more than one copy of LR installed - old and new.

I have light 2, light 3, light room 4 installed on my computer... You want to know where your library is with pictures-- create it where you want it.
If you have placed all plug-ins in one folder it is easy to add to various programs, including Adobe photo shop, for example CS4 and Cs5extended, and CS6... which I have on my MAC....
Then it is good to determine whether you are going to run in 32 or 64 bit mode.....
Compatibility always can be an issue with software and hardware... caveat.

Right! Having good organization on your computer is essential. Not easy, but essential. I keep trying to make my organization better - a never-ending struggle.

you have that one right -- an ongoing "struggle" to manage and organize digital programs as well as the files being manipulated by these programs... It is getting more difficult as things are changing so quickly. Once one has a system that is running smoothly, one does not like to really throw any "wrenches" into the " a working system... "

Change is inevitable though -- but beware of the marketing "trap" of some changes...
