We've had thunder, lightning, and heavy rain every night for about a week. Last night was a doozy. It started at about 2:00 AM, and at one point, there wasn't even a second between lightning flashes. Although it was sunny a few minutes ago, we now have more thunder, lightning, and torrential rain. It's too bad we can't transport this water to places that need it.

I was thinking the same while I was in Illinois with all the rain there. It is sad that there are such extremes and we can’t help out the dry areas. 🥺

We could fill tanker cars with our excess rain and haul it to CA. A derailment wouldn't be such a disaster. : )

I was looking at a lightning strike tracker last night and there was a large area southeast of Binghamton, NY where the strikes were hitting at a rate of about 120 per minute! Strike dots ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Glad it wasn't my area!

It's been raining here for more than forty days and forty nights. Is that a sign?

Of course not. The weather and climate are always the same. All those scientific numbers can be interpreted anyway you like. Gravity? Nonsense! Things are just heavy. "We don't need no stinking science." It poured last night, and it's pouring now.

In 1966 we took a trip around the country. On the way through Kansas we were driving along a road in weather that looked kind of threatening. We stopped for lunch at a turnoff that had a small shelter and had lunch. It was not raining or windy there, but no matter which direction we looked, there were lightning strokes on the horizon, my estimate was a sustained 3/second in my field of view, no matter which direction my head was turned. We had a nice lunch, cleaned up, got back in the car, and 5 minutes later we were into it. Had to stop on the shoulder for about 5 minutes.

Best lightning show I've ever seen.

Be careful, you are treading on Attic territory.

I know. I hesitated to post this topic at all. I've started writing so many posts, and then I've thought about how they could turn nasty, and I deleted them.

The rain has stopped for a few minutes! Whoopee!
