The new On1 denoise program seems to be quite good. I have been using it for 2 days on some older RAW files and it is doing a great job. It's slow on my computer but I don't know if that is normal for all computers. It will sharpen as well as clean up noise and can be used in auto mode or manual. It can be purchase as a stand-alone program and can be used with Lightroom and Affinity. I tried Topaz. I like this much better. (I am a user of On1 Photo Raw, too).

I'm a user of DXO PhotoLab 4 Elite with its DeepPRIME noise reduction. I also have a license for Topaz Denoise AI 3 that I use generally use only for Tiff and Jpeg files since DeepPRIME only works on raw files. I downloaded the trial version of ON1 Nonoise yesterday. and tested it extensively on raw files against DXO's DeepPRIME and Topaz Denoise AI. My impression after several hours of testing was that the results with On1 Nonoise was very noticeably better than Topaz Denoise and ran faster on my computer than the Topaz product. DeepPRIME is also a very significant improvement over Topaz Denoise especially when it come to the amount of noise eliminated and the amount of fine detail that is retained. While my tests indicate that ON1 Noise was still not up to DeepPRIME's very high standards, I was surprised how close it came.

DeepPRIME is only available as part of DXO PhotoLab, or in their standalone program PureRAW which is a direct competitor to Topaz Denoise AI and ON1 NoNoise. While Nonoise did crash on me a couple of times, it was generally stable. ON1 is to be congratulated on the introduction of a very fine product with a lot of potential.

I purchased ON1 No Noise at a discount as I am an owner of ON 1 Raw. I only shoot JPEG, so I was very disappointed that the program states it works best with RAW and that JPEG is Working as a BETA, but will be addressed later.

I installed ON1 NoNoise and am really impressed. I have Topaz version and used it a few times but it was excruciatingly slow on my computer, which is fairly new, has plenty of space on the hard drive snd 16 Gigs RAM. I never did figure out why it was so slow but ON1 NoNoise works much faster and I think the results are clearly superior to Topaz. This is a winner!!!

I believe further updates will take care of crashes and bugs. On1 Photo use to do that, too but runs much better now.

I think it will be a winner. Everyone should give it a try as a stand-alone. I believe a free trial is available.

It will only improve with time, I believe.

The reason that DeepPrime only works on raw files is that it is part of the Raw conversion. Just guessing, NoNoise may work in much the same way. Slowness in Topaz may be because your graphics card is either underpowered for the process or is not being used by it. Check the minimum systems requirements on the Topaz web site.

I'm sure that the crashes will be fixed. That is not uncommon for brand new software.

Yes, DXO's DeepPRIME is only applied during raw file demosaicing.

Rob Trek has a nice video comparing de-noising programs.

Thanks for that. I asked a couple of weeks ago for someone to compare the two programs and while I got several replies, no one had done an actual comparison until your post.

After seeing Matt K’s take I might check out the free trial but I’ll probably stick with Topaz. It would have to be amazing for me to change my workflow that much.

It's just my view but I think it's valid. At least for me. Hope you enjoy the program if you choose it.

It's a personal choice. Both are very good.
