Santa brought a Z50 with the 16-50 lens last Christmas. Although I've used the Z50 a lot, haven't really paired it with the 16-50 lens much. Took that combination out on Independence Day, and really liked the wider angle views I was getting.

Gorgeous image Bill

Well, your combo is working to perfection. Just a few days ago I had a post on kit lenses. Kit lenses perform when we do our part. They are priced reasonably low and although they do not have the strict corrections of more costly lenses they are very capable.
Since you are beginning to enjoy wide angle shots try a few shots coming closer to your subjects. You will see a radical difference in perspective than using a wide angle to "take it all in."

Enjoy your combo.

Beautifully done, Bill. The fabulous sky and lake reflections were perfect subjects for the wide angle frame. Love the download.

Thanks Joe - I'm glad you liked it and appreciate your very nice comments. It was a very nice day with no wind, and the water reflections of the sky were the icing on the cake.

Lovely shot Bill...I've got my Z50 set at 16:9 ratio and you get an even wider view..
Ron.

Thanks Ron - I appreciate your comments. I haven't tried it at 16:9 yet, but that sounds like a good idea. Thanks.

Thanks William - I appreciate your very nice comments. I sort of overlooked the 16-50 kit lens, and haven't really used it that much. The slow lens doesn't affect me much as I usually shoot between f8 and f11, and the color reproduction and sharpness were surprisingly good. Couldn't get much closer on this shot (or I would have been in the lake), but I think that's good advice. I want to get closer and lower, and will be trying that out shortly.

Very nice. Sorta punches a few holes in the belief that you need a full-frame and of course how bad kit lenses can be.
