Interesting Birds these Acorn Woodpeckers....They have a granary in a 50ft tall pine stump that broke in half during a storm years ago...I got to watch them drilling the storage holes....thousands of them! I saw them constructing the communal nesting rooms in the trunk...get to watch the coming & going of all of them. They come daily to my feeders eat the suet or sunflower seeds, combat the Jays for the peanuts I provide and give me much pleasure trying to capture their activities. I keep the welcome mat out for them .

Two minds with a common touch!

Jeannie, my wife, does the same with a feeder and a tray of grains every day.

And still the woodpeckers hammer at the pine trees with enough energy and noise that you can probably hear them in Grants Pass!

Thanks Toment...yes they are VERY fast! Took me a long time to get any BIF pics...the new Rebel T8i really helps with the lot faster burst mode. Now to just get better! Take care, Walt

I appreciate the comment photophile! I had no idea they shared nesting cares! Even last years brood will help care for the new crop of babies! It is not unusual to have 16 or more individuals in the same nest! I especially try to get pics of them poking their heads out of the nest waiting for a food delivery! they put GrubHub to shame! Lol...thanks for stopping by...Walt
