You all have inspired me with the beautiful bird shots you have posted. So decided to give it a try. Had to wait a while for anyone to show up, but these two decided to pose for me in my aspen tree.

Interesting shots. Wish you could have gotten more of the Flicker, so the ID is not certain between a western race Northern or a Gilded, but the Say's Phoebe looks good!! Keep at it and thanks for sharing!!

Pretty good first shots. You will become addicted to bird photography and get better and better!
Very nice beginning. Keep working at it and you'll be hooked.
Thanks for your comment. The flickers arrive by the hundreds about this time of year. They are beautiful but sometimes pesky birds. I have given up repairing a hole in the roof of a portico on my house. It has become a permanent winter home for these guys.
Thanks. I was surprised that I got the ones I got....encouragement!
I am impressed!
Very pretty. I'd love to get a Flicker photo.
Tricky devils. They know exactly how to hide.
They sure do. Here they sit up in the tops of tall pines. I can hear them, but they're too high for me to see let alone get a picture.

Your heart is in the shots, no doubt!
If I may, a little suggestion: Since in both images the birds are centrally positioned, I reckon you were set up for a spot-focusing, which is perfect. I'd suggest, though, that you push the shutter release button only half-way, which will lock all the in-camera settings, then compose your shot (you know the Rule of Thirds) and finish the shot. Both pictures are lovely, focusing on the eye, luv it!
