What do you you think of this camera and lens combo? Is the lens good for all around wide and closeup shooting?

Thank You.

I have an R5 and I most frequently use it with the 24-105 lens, and while any single lens is going to have limitation, I find this combo pretty darn convenient to have available when traveling.

I have the EF version and have taken over 100,000 wedding pictures with it. Assuming the R build is the same, you will get many years of very high quality images from it. An outstanding choice.

I have been using the 24-105 first model for several years (on dslr's) and it is very good. I have spent most of a day at events with just that lens. Cars, trucks, trains, Steam Punk events etc. I almost always use it on a FF body - first a 6D (it came as the kit lens) and now a 5DIV
The second model was an improvement though I stuck with my original and this new RF is said to be a bit of an improvement over that. Yes, it is a very good general purpose walk around lens no matter which platform it is on.
I don't have an RF camera, if they bring out an R7 update equivalent of my 7DII for my birds I will be tempted to do some trading or just add another camera to my collection. Or not, I am 75 and my dslr's are all very good cameras. If I made money off my birds etc. it would be easier to justify it.

My son just got one a couple of weeks ago, takes great pictures, the autofocus is outstanding. He is very happy with it. He also bought the adaptor with the control ring to use his or mine Ed mount lenses. I think it is a very good camera combo. Excellent in low light too.

Me too. Great walk around lens although my equally preferred lens is my 100-400 II EF with the adapter on my R5. Will go to 100-500 when they become readably available and sell my 100-400.

Let me know when you are selling you 100-400, please.

I have the R5 with that lens and it is the go to for just about everything. I had the earlier version with 3 different cameras and used it for about 75% of my images. Perfect combination, much sharper that the non-L version and you will be happy with the robust construction of both camera and lens.

The Sigma Art Lens (24-105) has a better rating than the Canon. I would get a used 5DSR and use the Sigma. Save a ton of money.

I have the 24-105mm lens.
Most excellent and is the lens that starts out on the camera every time except where a specific type of photography is immediately anticipated like wildlife.
This that you show is an excellent combination.

I have the R6 and 24-105L lens and they work very well together. I don't think you can go wrong with them. Also am thinking of buying the Sigma 14-24mm 2.8 Art lens with the adapter as the new Canon RF14-35 f4 is just too expensive and it's just an f4.
