I also have seen good reviews and that it is a major step up in IQ from the manual focus equivalent lenses.
Just remember your camera must have the AF motor in it for the lens to work.
Go for this lens, very good.

I have this lens and use it often on my Df. Optically it is as good as the AF-S 35mm f/1.8G lens. It is smaller and lighter than the AF-S lens. Keep in mind that since it doesnโ€™t have a built in AF motor, for AF to work it needs to be on a camera that has an AF motor.

You have the D610 which this lens is good for. If you have a dx camera then the 35mm f/1.8 dx is the better choice. The Nikon 35mm really a case when you should use dx lenses for dx camera.

I have this lens, too, Jim. Sharp, fast, light, small. A very good prime lens.

I owned this lens. But as anyone can tell you, sharpness with todays lenses comes mainly from the skill of the photographer, not the lens.

So true, no truly bad lenses from major makers in at least 30 years.

Given Nikon's current support for their "F to Z" in the FTZ adapter, just be aware a D-lens is a "DSLR only" lens for autofocus. The mirrorless adapter doesn't have the motor to migrate this lens to their Nikon mirrorless bodies. You can judge if this is a potential long(er) term issue.

I often make reference to this in my posts. Any lens, if improperly used will never render its best.
