First impression...
Light weight: Great.
Installing a generic windows 10...
Need to modify the BIOS settings in order to access the drive... Not so great
Lost one drive in the process: Horrendous, I have not yet figured out how to correct that (in the BIOS likely)

HEAT ISSUE!!!
After loading Windows, the laptop went onto a 'SURPRISE!!!' self update for the BIOS and other internal components.
The fan onto over drive...
I used a thermal gun to check and... The top and bottom of the laptop clocked 117F !!!! (47c)
This thing is not going to stay on my lap anytime soon.

Worse, I checked the fan exhaust, thinking the laptop needed to be onto a slight incline for the air exhaust... User error an all that. Well, no. The fan exhaust is on top, lined toward the screen, so not only the laptop is running hot but so is the screen.

Now to re-enable the missing SDD...

I guess you're looking at the Digest. "Upcoming Topics" is part of the Digest but is not one of the UHH sections. He posted it in the *Main Photography Discussion" section. Should be in the Chit-Chat section.

So, did you use "Report Issue" to get it moved?

You didn't answer my question. If you use the "Report Issue" button, you don't need to post in the thread. Admin gets the message directly.

Let's get past where this is posted. An accident. It will be sorted out. Did this computer come with Windows installed? Are you trying to do a clean install on the original hard drive. New SSD? Did you already mess with the BIOS and what settings? Have you tried resetting the bios to the factory settings?

Windows WAS installed. The issue is all the additional software added and not necessary.
To have a clean slate on any computer, a fresh, clean installation is needed, always.

Setting? The laptop was set up as RAID-0. I need two drives, as I always separate my data from the software and OS. The temp files go to a partition on the main drive (0). This way, backing up is a snap.

That I have to fiddle with the bios to activate the second drive is a hassle no one should have to go through.

And the temperatures you're getting now are not viable. It sounds like you know a bit about these things and will work them out. I agree with you about doing a clean install of Windows. I do it every couple of years on all of my machines. It's a hassle, but it has solved some problems from time to time.

I've run into extra drives/partitions not being recognized on a new, clean install of windows. If I recall correctly, you can specify a new size of the partition where Windows is installed at the very beginning of the setup process. If you have an actual separate physical drive, it's better that it be present when you run the install. I've had a rather difficult time getting the second drive recognized after the install.

You might want to post your questions on TenForums.com. It's a great site with lots of very knowledgeable people. I've always got the solution when I've posted problems.
