Technical Photography Skill or an Artistic Eye?

Here is a link to an article, the link provided to me in an email from Petapixel, that I found interesting. It harkens back to post processing in film days. Wondering if others may find it intriguing and informative.

Just ordered 15 lbs butter, 10 lbs grated Parmesan, a half skid of popcorn, and a much bigger bowl.

Thank you for raising the issue of vision and skill as an either-or polarity. That will produce the most replies.

And there will acoarst be the usual “wise peacemaker” replies, trying to depolarize it all by claiming that vision and skill are “hand in glove”. But wtf do they really know. They just play that same role on any issue (“Now-now chilren, play nice.”)

“Hand in glove” is just wishee-washee nonsense. There’s almost a master and servant connection between the two. So maybe I’ll keep a three-way accounting, like an invisible poll among Vision, Skill, and Wishee-washee.

Jeez, I forgot to order more oregano and garlic powder. Anywho, thanks again.

Right out of the gate it’s Hand in Glove.
Polarity stumbled a bit, but it was minor.

A bit of debris has blown onto the course. Hopefully no harm done.

I would value a visually exciting photo with some technical flaws over a technically perfect but boring photo.

If Admin is working this weekend, this thread should soon disappear into Links and Resources, never to be seen again.

The picture of Jack Ruby shooting/killing Lee Harvey Oswald is neither technically proficient nor is it artistically appealing. But it captures the action and tells the story.
