In the past I've been able to send pictures through email by attaching a picture file. Now when I send pictures I can only send one at a time because it sends the actual picture instead of the file that the person receiving the email. How can I set up my email to send the image# instead of the actual picture.

I have Windows live and had the same issue with attachments, even if I downsized. I discovered to just let others look at photos I could simply copy & paste into an Email rather than insert. Have sent 8 or 10 pictures at a time with no problem. Not an answer, but a possible work around depending on your needs. Good Luck!

Thanks, it was much easier before. At least I know I am not losing my mind.

Though it started a couple of years ago (and I'm still running Win7) all of a sudden anything with more than one photo would not only sit forever in the Outbox, it would need to be deleted before other things would send. Fortunately the "band aid" works for me.

I have been sending jpgs to a group I'm associated with for a couple years. I typically send 10-15 jpgs. They're not large, totaling around 1-2 MB/email. I did some today and had no problems. I'm using Thunderbird on Win10. I address the email, then attach the group of jpgs. Today worked as well as any other day.

I always send as an attachment.

There is a 20-25 Mb limit (depending on the email provider) on the total size of the email.
Has the size of what your sending changed? ie. new camera?
Did your email client change something?
Did you maybe somewhere select send attachments in-line?

I have the same questions. I can send maybe three jpegs out of camera made with my Canon G7X II. I can send maybe one made with my Nikon D810, and that's pushing the limit. I always reduce the size of the pictures I email so that I can send multiple pictures, but if I want the recipient to receive the pictures in their full glory, I upload them to my One Drive and send them a link to the folder containing the pictures. They will get everything I put there at once.

I use four different emails, and the rules are all the same. (Comcast, AOL, Outlook and Gmail) 25Mb limit.

One other thing to check is whether your email has a storage quota. It's 15 Gb with Gmail. All of the pictures you've sent but never deleted count and add up. You could get into a situation where you'd have to delete stuff in order to send stuff. But I would expect you to get a warning about reaching your quota.

I have window 10 and thunderbirds also. I will try making them smaller jpeg and see what happens. Seems a shame doing all that work on PP and have to drop it way down.

Do you use a resident mail client such as Outlook or do you use a web based client such as Google Mail?

If that's the case, consider something like One Drive or Drop Box to make the large files available to others.

Do you use Thunderbird or Google to access your email?

Emailing Pictures Tests:

I have had no problems sending pictures through email, but there are some idiosyncrasies which should be determined and taken into account depending upon the email clients being used. I ran a minimal series of tests, with the following parameters and results, but best to check out the combinations you use.

I use Outlook through Windows and my private website email addresses plus Gmail through Thunderbird.

OS is latest Windows 10.

Sending 4 pictures, as copy and paste, and again as file attachments.

When received, saving, so as to check file name and size.

Original picture sizes: 4.5 MB, 4.5 MB, 1.5 MB, 74 KB.

In 6 different tests, all pictures sent and received OK (though with some differences).

Sending from Outlook to my website email address – copy and paste
Pics went with original names and sizes

Sending from Outlook to my website email address – files as attachments
Pics renamed and resized (by Outlook) to 62, 93, 73, and 73 KB

Sending from my website address to Outlook – copy and paste
Pics renamed, but retained original size

Sending from my website address to Outlook – files as attachments
Pics went with original names and sizes

Sending from Gmail to Outlook – copy and paste
Pics renamed, but retained original size

Sending from Gmail to Outlook – files as attachments
Pics went with original names and sizes

Hope this is of some help,

Loren – in Beautiful Baguio City
