If you’re on a Mac, try Final Cut Pro. It can run circles around the Mac version of Premiere Pro for most projects. It also has great built-in pro audio features. Windows users should use Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
Curtis Judd’s YouTube channels have some great audio training and equipment reviews.
Totally agree. FCP is a professional quality Non Linear Editor and an excellent choice for a Mac. When I was at Isilon (before we were bought by EMC, who was in turn bought by Dell), I used to have a number of FCP customers including NASCAR in Charlotte.

Final Cut has grown tremendously over the years. Of course, about a decade ago, Apple blew it up and re-wrote it entirely... changed the interface... lost a lot of network and studio editors to Premiere. But the journey has been worth the patience. It's a different approach to editing that makes it more direct, quicker, and easier.
The good news is that the new M1 speeds it up with several hardware accelerators. The forthcoming Apple Silicon will really speed it up. Premiere Pro is now Apple Silicon Native (Universal), so it will also run faster. DaVinci Resolve runs great on Mac and Windows. Each of the editor apps has its good and bad features.

Final Cut has grown tremendously over the years. O... (

Yea, Avid seems to have fallen by the wayside. Premier still has marketshare, but FCP has moved up considerably since I got out of the NLE storage business.
