what are you folks doing for offsite data storage ?
what file formats do they accept ?
is the backup continuous?
how many Gg of space do they sell?
If any of you have suggestions I'd be happy to hear them;
I've been using Carbonite, but, they are so slow I can't stand it

anybody heard of Mosiac ?

I've been using picasa web albums for a couple of years now and don't really have any complaints, reasonable cost, pretty easy app to use, etc. ;)

Take a look at "JIMMYDRIVE". Maybe "Jimmysdriva"
Go to phototips.biz. Web site.
Backup continues
Backup PC and all drives attached.
No Limite on space
No additional charges
I am paying $98/year for 3 PCs.

Tell Jimmy I sent you. Promotion is by wordofmouth.
I don't get anything but supporting good product and service.

Rather than "off site" many of us here use external hard drives for such storage. I have a main external which houses everything except, of course, the C:\ stuff like Windows and software. I have a second external for backing up my current photo collection while I'm assembling it prior to burning.

I lost everything a few years ago to a crash and went to this system and so far, no problems.

I do the external hard drives, (keep one at home, one at office, and also back up onto DVDs. A friend of mine told me that he has a trick that he's used for years (did the cloud before the cloud existed) He e-mails himself important pictures (not all pictures, just ones that he may need to pull up later for sale or something) Once they arrive, he organizes the e-mails into folders. G-mail has no limits on how much storage. (these are all his words and practices, not mine) It is kind of an interesting thought for those really important shots, as maybe yet another layer of back up if nothing else.

I thought "Jimmydrive" went by the boards.

'Storage' and 'offsite backup' are two different animals. If you are interested in offsite backup, I recommend taking a look at CrashPlan. Their attributes are too numerous to list here.

For simple storage space, there are many options - DropBox, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. etc.

I store mine on an external drive, I only plug it in when i'm using it. an off site facility might disappear tomorrow. in my case if I lost all my photos, i'd have a v-8 and start a new library.
