A photo from several years ago during a mule ride at Bryce Canyon. I've always liked this one, though I have debated whether to brighten the cowboy's face. Enjoy

Great image and background!
Would you believe that I thought I was riding a horse until the cowboy told me otherwise during our ride.
Also, would you believe I did a sky replacement on this image.
I appreciate everyone’s comments.

Especially with phones hanging from their belts.

Yeah! Where's his six-shooter?
Great shot, don't do anything to the face. Just for information cowboys did ride mules and it's not a phone it's a radio.
Absolutely wonderful shot! Don't change a thing.
I have been in the presence of some pretty good cowboys for nearly 80 years, and I have seen more than one really good cowboy ride a mule. Some 20 years ago in Baja we were running around the desert in Baja California and had not seen a human in a couple of days. Which was great. Then all of a sudden up a canyon riding a mule came an old man. He turned out to be a pretty good cowboy. If I can find some photos we took of him, will post them.
My current race horse trainer, who is a really a good cowboy and horseman, always has a mule . . . bought his current mule this year. And this cowboy loves his mules and has trained three World Champion race horses.
I’m enjoying the mule stories and appreciate everyone’s comments. Also, I recommend a mule ride into Bryce Canyon.

Oh. but they do....at least in AZ. Much more sure footed on the rough, rocky terrain. Not all cowboys, of course. I know several real Cowboy's that won't ride anything but mules.
