The male house finch in "On Top fo the World...his kingdom" got comments from some people that they thought a darker background and getting rid of the traces of the fence behind would look better. Also after a week of contact with their tech people and trying I got the NIK Collection 4 to install. Not sure what was the problem, just after one round of deleting traces of previous attempts suddenly a check box that had been invisible appeared in the second step where things had been hanging up. I checked it and things moved on, then checked a box on the next page and everything installed quickly and smoothly.

So shot #1 is the color redo of "Sitting On Top of the World..."* cropped closer to get rid of the mixed tones of the fence and darkened the background a bit.

Then I ran it through the new version of NIK Silver Efex and adjusted things in B&W so shot #2. I should go just a hair lighter maybe?

Then shot #3 is one of the other shots of the same bird as he moved around the potted dwarf fruit trees but with out having done anything to the OOC image in color first. I think I need to edit color first before converting to get better monotone separation of subject from background.

Canon 7DII, Canon 100-400L mk2 @ 400, 1/1250 @ f/8, 1&2 ISO-3200, 3 ISO-2500 (I use ISO on auto so as the light changes the ISO changes to suit.)

I prefer #3 to the PP done in #2. I know that the background in #3 is busy, too much in focus distracting from the bird, and would be nicer if it was blurred more. I don't care much for the background and the light area around the finch in #2. I still prefer the color image in this set better than the other two images included, as it shows the beautiful red plumage of the Male House Finch. I do however prefer the color version in this set better than the one you posted the other day.

The first one really pops but fun to try different effects. Thanks for the share.

Number one, then two. Three doesnโ€™t do much for me.
