Short article on Win 11

Interesting take on Win 11 update, last paragraph sums it up well.
MS makes no money on updates. If the update makes 50 million or so older
computers (in the US alone) obsolete and MS sells 50 million copies of Win 11
at say $50.00 each (just a guess of price) that works out to some real money.
......Now do that worldwide.
The system tester says neither of my laptops will run it, and if it is like previous
new systems it is just a matter of time till till my programs will update to run
on the new platform but my computer will not so I will end up with a new computer.

Apparently needs 8th gen or newer Intel processor.. that’s going to obsolete an awful lot of perfectly good computers.. https://www.dell.com/community/Virus-Spyware/Windows-11-will-be-a-free-upgrade-from-Win10-BUT/td-p/7917692

My computer is less than 3 years old and came with 10. It has 12gb ram and 128gb ssd. I think it will run 11 fine. It seems to have slowed just a bit recently. According to the memory people site I could swap my 8/4 memory for a pair of 16gb memory cards for $80 each. I may check with the local pc shop and see how much they charge to do the swap. It could be a good performance boost.

You can continue with Win10. It will still get updates till 2025. One of my PC not Win11 compatible due to no TPM

I looked at MAC as a replacement. I could not get a MAC laptop with a 17.3 monitor,
with my vision I will want as big as possible. MAC will not run my software unless I use
an emulator. Whatever that is. And with the price difference I can spend well under half
as much for the new HP I ordered today so I can replace it again next time they pull this
on us and still be ahead.

If you look at the history of Window, every second version has been rubbish, or at least very ordinary, and the in-between ones great. Just go back a bit:
Win 3 - Not great
Win 3.1 - Great
Win 95 - Ho-hum
Win 98 - Great
Win Me - Rubbish
Win XP - Great
Win Vista - Ho-hum
Win 7 - Great
Win 8 - Poor with intermediate Win 8.1 only a bit better
Win 10 - Great (there was no Win 9)
If MS keeps to its previous form, Windows 11 will be a failure. So stick to Windows 10 and wait for Windows 12!

Microsoft has taken the Windows 11 "test" link down due to problems with it.
Microsoft says they will return it closer to Windows 11 release date.
