I forgot to mention that the 2 pancake lenses will be a 28mm f/2.8 and a 40mm f/2.8

Sounds good. I like the retro idea, provided the specs aren't retro.

It would have a feature that none of the old cameras had, the exposure compensator dial right under the thumb. Very anti retro in my opinion.
Oh yeah, many old cameras did have the EC but none with a dial under the right thumb.

Where did the camera discussion start? I thought that the post was about lenses!

If the lenses are actually small, they should pair well with the Z cameras as walk around or travel lenses.

Are you going to buy one or just admire and talk about it?

Rumors seems to be the operative word in your post.

Well look like Nikon isn't going to announce them today.

The day isn't over yet.

Nikonrumors now has pictures supposedly of the actual camera while previous images were mockups:

It really doesn't effect me at all since I currently have no interest in a mirrorless, especially one with a crop sensor.

I have a “Mark Zero” Z. Seems rather retro all by itself. Dressing it up to look like a film camera would be just retro ... it would be retarded.

But if the cosmetics don’t look bogus and it’s much more compact, I’m game and especially so with a pancake forty. I have two forties right now, also had one in the 60s and another in the 70s. Forties rock Goldilocks.
