We are watching my daughter's family's 4 month old kittens this week while they are on vacation. I have noticed that they have a number of modes: exploration (they explored every nook and cranny of their new abode), observation, hunting (as they stalked the wasp that got into the house), chase and play (usually at night when we hear them thundering after one another through the house), social (both wit one another and with us), and as alarm clocks (when it's time to eat it's time to eat!!!), and, ofc, down time. We've had a good time with them so far.
