With a shout-out and debt of gratitude to Pat, the moderator of this forum, I had a great weekend photographing the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
Pat was very generous sharing his great knowledge of both photography and the railroad, and provided great suggestions as to good, safe standby locations for photo ops.
Thank you Pat!

Thanks for the post. We no longer geographically travel, only web photographically.

Disclaimer:
I am really not much of a train enthusiast other than enjoying photographing trains in the landscape.
I do admire the engineering involved in steam motive power but I have no clue as to operating specs.
Per Wikipedia, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a 3-foot (914mm) narrow gauge railroad.
Here are closer looks at the the locomotives in service in service that weekend:
Locomotive 487 - a K-36 Baldwin 2-8-2, built in 1925

Locomotive 484 - also a Baldwin K-36, 2-8-2, built in 1925
Operating out of Antonito, Colorado was C&TSSRR Locomotive 489 -- like the others, a Baldwin K-36, 2-8-2, built in 1925

Here's a side view of 489 before it was coupled to passenger train for the Antonito-Osier run.

Just a note.
#489 was converted to burn oil this last winter.
It is pulling passenger cars already this season and is running well from what I hear.
