The 850 is a great tool, but it requires very good technic

Love mine but I had to up my game for Tac sharp results

It must be. I was taking a head shot at a pro photo place and the photog was using a Canon 50D. I asked why the old camera? He replied that in my case less pixels was better! He was right. The wrinkles were not all that noticeable!

I suggest you also look at a used Nikon DF. It was unfairly trashed by the press when it came out but now underused ones are a good buy. Given the price of older Ai Nikon lenses, you have 50 years of superior optics to choose from; and yes, you can easily live without autofocus.

For 16MP? Overpriced new, outlandishly overpriced used.

There is no doubt that the Df is an outstanding camera. It was given the guts of a D4. Unfortunately it does not have all of the focusing advantages of the D4s, which had Group Auto Focus used primarily for action and wildlife photography. That said, the Df is a great little retro camera design that can produce outstanding images.

I love the Df and I almost bought another one when I was in Japan. But I wouldn't recommend it to any body.

I use 4 of the older "D" lenses on my D810. There is nothing wrong with them except for one thing. If you do eventually go mirrorless with Nikon, they will not autofocus on the new cameras. They need a motor in the body of the camera. (The D780 and D850 do have the motor.)

Too bad Nikon failed to make so many of their F lenses incompatible with the Z system.
