The Nikon EN-EL12 battery has been out of stock for weeks. I need a second battery for an upcoming trip and am looking for recommendations for an alternative. In the past I always bought Lenmar batteries, but they don't seem to make camera batteries anymore. I've heard bad things about other third-party batteries, such as Wasabi, so I'm reluctant to go with one. I did purchase an Eveready, but it wouldn't take a charge and I had a hell of a time getting a refund. For those reasons I'd prefer an original Nikon, but it looks like I may not be able to get one. Any suggestions?
Wasabi or Watson, never had a problem with either. Using them for at least 10 years.

Like you, I prefer OEM batteries, but you are facing an emergency situation that looks like it's going to require some flexibility.
I've used ProMaster batteries. Didn't like them, but they (mostly) worked except for fuel gauge errors and too-fast discharge. But I never worried about them damaging the camera. And lithium batteries don't leak, despite what you read here. (If they did, it would be a much bigger problem than just corrosion. Think fire.)
Have done well with Wasabi for years, and recently with a couple of Kastar, but that is a relatively short experience.
I've checked out the ones on Amazon and they all appear to be counterfeits. If you look close you will see that even though they say Nikon on the label, they are manufactured by another company. That's why they're so cheap.

The link I provided says it is Nikon.....and it is double the price of others......and......you need one in a hurry.....
Maybe you need a battery grip with a AA adapter, cuz if you have a problem with Wasabi then perhaps you’ve been cursed or hexed, batterywise :-(
FWIW I have about 30 Wasabis of several types. No problems, ever. I’ve had 3 or 4 OEM Sony and Canon batteries croak, but acoarst OEMs would tend to be the oldest in the bunch.
Looks like Adorama has them.

B&H recommended Watson to me for my Sony and I have never had any trouble with any of them.

Thank you for your suggestions. I had a friend who bought a Wasabi, albeit for a different camera, and he had a problem that it expanded in the camera and he couldn't remove it until it had cooled down.

Thank you for your input. As I mentioned to another hogger, I had a friend who had a problem with a Wasabi, but his experience may have been unique.
