OOPS! :oops: I misread your question..What do you mean by a "digital polarized filter"?
There's no way to duplicate the effect of a polarizing filter digitally. Digital sensors don't record any information on the polarization of light which falls on them.

As I recall, both polarizers work, but the in-camera light meter doesn't read the effect of a linear polarizer.
So the light meter would be giving you the wrong EV readings. The darkening effect of a circular is read by the camera light meter.

Absolutely NOT true!
Linear is for manual focus cameras, but will work on AF cameras, regardless of digital or not, when shot in full manual mode.
Circular Polarizers will work on ALL cameras, but are not as strong an effect as Linear.
The Linear Polarizer will seriously affect the AF systems, and can affect in-camera metering systems of most SLR and DSLR systems.
