Affinity Settings to Replace Photoshop 'Auto Contrast' & 'Auto Color'

Hello Gang - I have a question for anyone who has mostly moved from Photoshop to Affinity. I have Photoshop 6 for the Mac, but it will stop functioning once I upgrade to Catalina. And - I purchased Affinity, which I assume will continue to work on that OS. I was expecting to switch over by now, but old habits die hard.

There is one feature I use a LOT in Photoshop to do a 'quick and dirty' image improvement. Well, two, actually, depending on the photo. I use Auto Contrast and Auto Color on almost every photo, and they really help each image pop without me having to do all kinds of backflips to get there.

I have been looking for the equivalent in Affinity. I know they have their sliders, the white balance, etc., but I have tried them and found them not to work as well or as easily. I am pretty sure they must have something like that, but I don't know how to do it. Can anyone help me on this?

Also - I can export anything as a JPEG or whatever, but if I just save the file, it does so in their 'Affinity File Format'. I would prefer to just save it automatically as a JPEG (Or RAW or whatever I brought it in as). Is there an easier way to do this other than exporting it every time? Thanks in advance,
Rick

Affinity is a great software. Since I have never used auto color or auto contrast I cannot even tell you if Affinity has them. Contrast is something I tend to do with Curves while for color saturation I usually work with the Saturation slider, HSL or Vibrance.
Use Export instead of Save. I use Export to save to my desktop as a TIFF file.

There are many excellent tutorials on line to learn Affinity Photo or perhaps you should email them with your concern. They are very good with their customer's service. I have been looking at Atmosphere by James Ritson as a means of sky replacement. Everything they have till the end of the month will sell at 50% off their original value. A bargain considering that Affinity Photo is an excellent software to edit images.

You can find auto contrast, auto colors, auto levels and auto white balance via the buttons I've circled in first screen print below (the main workspace, not the first one that comes up for raw edits).

You can't save a raw as a raw (in any software), but you can save as a psd (or other type) instead of Affinity file, using the export command. As a test, I just opened a jpg and chose only the auto colors and auto contrast buttons. I was able to click "save" and it stayed jpg. But doing that is dangerous as you can easily overwrite your original unintentionally unless you're used to re-naming the file prior to opening for edit.

Easy to select file type, even easier to change size and quality - such as for sharing online.

Here's another way I just discovered (I'm new with Affinity also ) to access the four "auto" edits:

Open a photo in Affinity. In the top tool bar there is Auto Contrast, Auto Color and Auto Levels

There is a Persona in Affinity Photo- Tonal Mapping Persona. It will give you 6 different tone options for your RAW or other photo. It also allows you to tweak each one to adjust to your preference
