I think this is a nice example of DeNoise AI doing its job. The photo was taken with a Sony RX100 VII.
Great software! It removes noise and also do some sharpening.

Why are you taking an image of a static subject at 1/1000 sec? Your Sony RX100M7 is rated to 4-stops in-body stabilization (IBIS). The image was captured at ISO-3200. Why not ISO-100 and 1/30 sec (5-stops different)?
The 1-inch sensor has a 2.7x crop factor. The image reports 28.5mm for an equivalent 77mm. Letting the camera shoot at 1/30 exercises that IBIS by just over 1-stop support.
Using the camera in a way that holds the ISO as low as possible while still obtaining sharply focus images is far cheaper in terms of (a) software costs, (b) computer equipment costs to run the software, and (c) time-effort to process your images.

Hi Chg_Canon,
Simple answer is that is what I intended in setting the camera. I wanted to see how well DeNoise AI would clean up a photo like this. The leaves were recovered to look almost as they are in actuality.

Closing the loop: where is the image directly from the camera at ISO-100, showing what can be done by the camera alone vs the edited version at an unnecessary ISO-3200?

Good question. I didn’t take one because I was just testing the DeNoise AI program. If I wanted a really good image of the tree, I would use my D810. 😃

Ummm, yes, I agree. I have the 100M7 and NEVER have noise like shown in the first picture. It is not a great low light camera, but not noisy either.
Nice. On1 is going to have an uphill battle with it's version of DeNoise.

Which of the 4 functions did you use - standard, severe, clear or low light? Did you try them all to see what worked best? What was the photo's ISO to tell how much DeNoise actually did other than some sharpening?
