Do any of you use a GoPro camera regularly? I have one or two and maybe a generic GoPro, but they tend to stay packed away. Having just one button to do everything seems like too much learning, and different models have different controls. Maybe I'll get one out today and play around with it. I bought one for my sons a few years ago, but he went back to his camcorder.
I must say, those cameras are super tough. I've seen them take tremendous abuse on TV, and they "keep on tickin'."

I have one that I received as a gift a few years ago. Even got the waterproof housing for use at the beach. But I haven't used it after going through the manual and doing some practice shooting. I do not have the viewfinder accessory, so framing is largely a guess.
I think it turned out just not to match my idea of video very well. Maybe like you, I need to get it out and exercise it a little bit.

I have given 2 away as well as 2 drones. Now I have a new GoPro9 and all I do is keep it charged. I suppressed an urge to get a DJI Mini the past few days.
Don't have one but there are links out there on how to turn one into a dash camera, body camera, or "Spy" camera. In today's environment, either of the first two could be a lifesaver.

Jerry, just don't try to test their abuse tolerance! You might be the one that ends up injured!

I now have dash cams front and rear.

The GoPro app turns your phone into a monitor. Been using a gifted Hero 4 Session for some neat POV and wide angle shots lately.

Thanks. The phone app sounds interesting. I wonder if that's limited to certain models.

That's not even a remote possibility.
One thing I've noticed is that many GoPro people on TV and YouTube have cables attached to the camera in case the suction cup mount fails in rough conditions.

Yep. I installed the app. It's pretty capable, actually. But I felt like battery drain was something of a problem.

Plus, the time lag takes a little getting used to.
I have had a Go Pro clone for several years now and haven't used it all that much, especially as I also have water proof point and shoots. I do use it when I don't want to be messing with the camera and my arms are otherwise occupied, such as when kayaking, watersliding, and snorkling (my snorkle mask has a go pro mount!). Its a specialty camera for most of us I think.
