An amazing woman. Political activist, actress, jazz singer, classical pianist, jazz pianist and probably more. She had her own TV show in 1950. I was fortunate to have experienced her show on the Dumont TV station. In NYC it was on channel 5. I was 13. BTW: She was gorgeous!!
Here's a video biography:

Hello Mark---I remember her, and I remember watching her show on tv. I believe she was married to a political figure. Adam Clayton Powell???
I loved the telling of her life story. Thanks for sharing the link, Mark.

What about them? I'm a bit confused by your question. If you are addressing me, I have posted links about all of them.

Just asking about the old artist since we seem to be in the era. Your opinion was my question.

Loved them!! Thelonius was a genius and one of the originators of bebop/modern jazz when it was developed in the early 40/50’s. There is an excellent documentary on Netflix entitled “Straight No Chaser”. Unfortunately, I never had the privilege of seeing him in person.
I grew up with Julie London hits. Still enjoy them. Live jazz was commonplace in the early 50’s TV.
I do not enjoy today’s music. It seems to be rhythm, but little music and hardly any form. Just my opinion. I don’t repeat that to my grandkids. One of my grandkids plays trumpet and loves jazz. I gave him my Bach Stradivarius trumpet. I stopped playing years ago.
I have a huge music collection on one of my hard drives. Mostly jazz & classical
Keep in touch.

Shearing’s Lullaby in Birdland was a classic. I did see him at Birdland.
My collections on hard drive, tape, mini disc, jazz and old r & b.

Hello Mark--yes, same century. I remember we would watch Ms. Scott on our 7" b/w tv with a magnified glass so as the picture appeared larger. I smile when I think of it. Now I have Fandango on a much larger screen and listen to the great Mario Lanza and Hank Williams. A unique pair, but both equally great.

Yup. We had a magnifying screen on our 9 inch B & W. We could almost see the faces on Jr. Frolics!!
