About a month ago I purchased PSE10. I finally found the time to try to install it. I have spent more than 5 hours with Adobe tech support with no results. I keep getting errors regarding "Shared Technologies" that results in my installation being "rolled back."

Tech support has had me download the software to my hard drive, create a new "test folder" in my C drive, and create two different admin accounts. None of these has resulted in a successful installation. I have read on UHH others who had similar problems with PSE11.

I even "shared" my computer with Adobe tech support. No luck.

If there is anyone on the UHH forum that knows where I can go to get my problems solved, I would appreciate the suggestions. I do not blame the vendor that I purchased PSE10 from...

One suggestion I read was to uninstall ALL Adobe applications and start over again. That is not reasonable. If I did that, my "old version" of PSE would not be functional.

Yes, I could take my PSE10 back to the place I purchased it, but that would not make my effort to improve my photo editing software at a price I could afford. Still, Adobe should be able to "fix" such problems with the installation.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

You have not said what computer platform you are loading it onto. Adobe has no control over what you use for a computer, nor what "shared technologies" you may have on that hard drive.

I have an HP computer that runs Windows XP and already have PSE6 installed that works perfectly fine. I understand that Adobe has no control over what system I use or what "shared technologies" I have. But I am certain I am not the only person who is having this type of issue and I would think Adobe would be very aware of this type of problem with installing their software. It seems to me that Adobe should be able to tell me how to install their software or tell me that their software is not compatible with my system.

I know that Photoshop CS6 will NOT run on Windows XP, maybe PSE 10 has the same incompatibility. Have you upgraded to Windows XP with Service Pack 2??

I did do the upgrade. I just looked on the side of the box and noticed that the software is compatible with XP with service pack 3. Hmmm...thanks for making me look.

One other perhaps simple answer to your problem, are you running 64 or 32 bit windows?

Yesterday, I downloaded PSE11 to my Dell computer from disk. No problem with my Windows7 64.

It is a 64 bit ready system.

Well, my service packs are up to date. I had hoped it would be that simple of a solution.

That is one of the reasons this is so confusing for me. One of our UHH members (photog11) could not install PSE11 for the exact same reason I am having with PSE10.

I just checked with Adobe and even PSE 11 should run on Windows XP SP3. There are several compatibility issues with other photo editing software programs, particularly some of the free programs like Gimp and Picassa. Are you running other editing programs like those?

Take it back and get PSE 11. It appears to be a fabulous upgrade.

I don't know that it won't have the same problem but at least if you do succeed you'll have a better result.

Time for a new computer. Windows 7 is an actual upgrade. (Vista was a downgrade). Also a computer that came with XP is probably too slow and short on memory to be fun to work with photos on.

I believe I have read that PSE 10 won't run on XP. If so I'm surprised Adobe wouldn't tell you that, though.
